These demos for the Warning album were recorded in a studio sometime in 1983. The sound and feel is a little less produced than the final
release, but most of the songs are very similar.
Chris DeGarmo sings back ups on most of the songs and it seems as though there were no
overdubs done. In my opinion, these are probably the best-sounding Queensryche demos
around.
01 - Waiting for the Kill
Possibly the coolest unreleased Queensryche demo ever! This song features a variety of
musical parts that eventually became other songs. For example, the intro hints at parts
from Roads to Madness and Child of Fire, and the solo eventually showed up in NM156.
However, the chorus and verses are unique and never made it into any other songs, making
a majority of this song previously unheard. There are also a few live versions of this
song floating around that are slightly different. In a Metal Shop interview, Scott mentions
that producer James Guthrie was dissatisfied with the song and told them to write a new
one. The next day, the band came up with "NM 156." Enjoy!
02 - Prophecy
This is one of many demos of this song that eventually ended up being recorded during the
Rage for Order sessions and included on the re-release of the EP. It is pretty much
unchanged from all the other versions of this song, and I don't know why it wasn't
included
on the Warning album... It's always been one of my favorites.
03 - Child of Fire
Another Warning demo. This one is pretty much identical to the final release.
04 - Before the Storm
Another Warning demo. This one is pretty much identical to the final release.
05 - No Sanctuary
A nice demo of No Sanctuary. It is fairly similar to the final release.
06 - The Warning
This demo features a different intro, very reminiscent of the way the song is played
live during the tour.
07 - Roads to Madness
This song is fairly similar to the final release, but unlike the final release, it is
obvious that all the back ups and harmonies are sung by Chris DeGarmo.
